windows vista startup problem bsod HELP

Hey guys,

My friend's laptop had been working fine before with an old version of Vista which was called "Windows Vista Blackdown". Apparantly I have NEVER EVER heard of this version but my friend told me that it was a really old version of vista, so i decided to re-format his laptop and install the Windows Vista home premium, the installation worked fine but during the startup a bsod

!!!
Another thing was that the bsod code thing was a 0x12A and so i went to google it, no results whatsoever.

The laptop is a Sony vaio VGN-SR13 i think.

I have tried reinstalling windows vista which didn't work, other than that i have no idea what to do..

I don't know what to do now so any help will be appreciated, Thanks.

Most copies of Windows Vista Black are pirated and we cannot help with that.
Is there a Vista sticker with a product key affixed to the computer?
Is your friend using a genuine Sony restore DVD?
If not, then I'd suggest ordering a copy of the restore CD/DVD's that came with the system (from Sony).

Hey thanks for responding.

Yea there is a sticker with a product key at the bottom of the computer for vista.
No his sony laptop didn't come with a restore dvd because he bought it used.

By the way do you know what the bsod 0x12A is? A friend told me it was a file missing out of installation but I'm pretty sure an error would come up, he also said it could be a hard drive problem....(please god no)
