connect HP pavillion dv6000 to internet

hi
I am having problems connecting my HP pavillion dv6000 to internet. It connects when i plug in the cable, and it connects to the network wirelessly but i can't seem to get an internet connection. i have connected wirelssly in the past to the internet, but dont know what's wrong now.
I don't know that much about computers, so please keep the explanation simple!

Click start run and type cmd inside of the black box type "ipconfig /all" without the quotes and notice the space between ipconfig and the / so it is ipconfig space forward slash then the word all.

Supply the following information please.

OS running on all affected systems
Make & models of all equipment (routers, network cards, modems).
Wired or wireless?
What wireless encryption is in use? (WPA, WPA2, WEP, None)
Browsers being used (Firefox, IE, Safari, Opera,...)
What security software is installed? (Firewalls, AV, Spyware, Malware,...)

Open up a command prompt (Start > run > cmd)
Type the following bolded commands and post the results for each affected machine.

ipconfig /all
ping www.google.com
ping 74.125.53.99

Note: To post results of commands, alternate click on the top of the command prompt > edit > select all >
alternate click on the top of the command prompt > edit > copy > paste in a message here. If you are on
a computer that can't connect to the internet then paste the contents in a text document and save it to a
portable media like a flash drive, then use an internet capable machine to post the contents.

The expired NIS could be a problem here. Remove it with the Norton Removal Tool (NRT).

Download the NRT; save to desktop. Then go to desktop, RIGHT-click on the NRT icon and select Run as Administrator. When complete - re-boot.

Reset the Windows Firewall to its default settings -
START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | click on FirewallSettings.exe above | select the Advanced Tab | click on "Restore Defaults" | Click Apply, OK

Use AVG for a/v if you wish - http://free.avg.com/download-avg-ant...s-free-edition

Once IE connectivity re-established, go to Windows Updates and allow Vista SP1 to install.

Yeah you should do the commands connected only with the wireless card. And i agree with jcgriff2. Uninstall Norton especially if it is expired.

And you are using wireless encryption if you have to put in a network key to connect to your wireless network.
