After instalation on McAfee, computer repeatedly displays error messages upon startup
My computer runs Vista Home Premium.
A few days ago, Norton began to give me problems because it would stall and not actually scan my computer, so I installed McAfee. When I boot up my computer, it displays an error message (after I log in) and I have to restart it. When I restart it does the same thing. It works in Safe Mode. When I logged in through Safe Mode and access McAfee, it told me that there were problems with my computer. When I told it to fix them it told me there was a error. Why does it do this and how do I fix it? Last edited by algificore; 07-02-2009 at 06:49 PM. Reason: Misspelling |

Re: After instalation on McAfee, computer repeatedly displays error messages upon sta
Hi, welcome to the forums, the failure of Norton might have been a symptom of some other problem on your computer. Now have you properly uninstalled it? You need to run the Norton uninstaller:-
http://service1.symantec.com/Support...05033108162039 Now McAfee is not any better you need to be rid of it as well. Use AVG free or Nod32 and enable the windows firewall. Vista does not play well with the "security suite" offered by these companies they are simply not suitable for home users.

Yes, I uninstalled Norton via the Norton uninstaller. It completed that without a problem.
I uninstalled McAfee and currently AVG is installing. I can get to my desktop/files now, so I guess the problem is fixed. Thanks for your help. |
