Video freezing on Vista Home Premium

Hello to all. I bought this laptop about a month ago. Vista Home Premium, 4gb ram, im on cable internet wifi. I have adobe flash player v.10 with the plugin. I have tried adjusting the settings on flash player. I have tried uninstall/reinstall also. I am so frustrated. When I try to use video sites like justin tv or youtube the video will start out ok but then freeze and the only way to make it go is to reload page. The strange thing is hulu works fine and sometimes youtube works ok? On youtube the video will almost always half download then freeze and wont contiue downloading until i pause. I am willing to try just about anything to fix, even if I have to get rid of vista. Can anyone help?

Re: Video freezing on Vista Home Premium

Well I would like to have you first try the video sites while connected through a Ethernet cable to see if the problem still exists or maybe we will be able to isolate the problem to the wifi.

Re: Video freezing on Vista Home Premium

Thanks for your reply. I just tried the ethernet and it worked much better with no freezing. I would also like to add I've been on various wifi hotspots and had the same problem. Is there a fix for this, maybe a warranty issue?

Re: Video freezing on Vista Home Premium

Since the problem was obviously isolated to your wifi card I would try the manufacturer's website and make sure you have the latest driver version available for your card.

Also since it is working right now and probably will not later (sporadic) that would make me wonder if either a bad or outdated driver for the card may be currently installed.

Re: Video freezing on Vista Home Premium

I just checked and wifi card, Atheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter seems to be up to date with updates.

Re: Video freezing on Vista Home Premium

Thanks again. I do agree it is a problem with the wifi. I just don't know what to do. I checked with Toshiba and there are no new drivers for this model and I checked with device manager in the control panel and did a search for upadates and it said it was good.

Re: Video freezing on Vista Home Premium

Toshiba Satellite L305-S5945. In another forum some suggested it my be my router technology. I'm use 802.11g made by D-Link. But trust me my laptop downloads faster than my pc and my pc plays the videos fine.

Re: Video freezing on Vista Home Premium

Please compare this driver to your current driver to assure you have the latest driver http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2324044&rpn=PSLB8U&modelFilter=L305-S5945&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663#

I would have to disagree the problem is with your router because remember you stated this happens at several hot spots and not just at home so it seems the router is not the case.

Re: Video freezing on Vista Home Premium

Wireless LAN Card Check

1. Run device manager.
2. If any of the following adapters are found under "Network adapters", apply Driver: 7.7.0.288.0. If none of the adapters are found, then this driver is not for your computer.
* Atheros AR9280 Wireless Network Adapter
* Atheros AR9281 Wireless Network Adapter
* Atheros AR9283 Wireless Network Adapter
* Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter

Atheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter is the model of mine so this driver doesn't apply.?
