Computer's instablilty

Hello; recently my computer has been experiencing difficultly running programs on full screen like for example youtube videos. After awhile the computer will start to freeze and unfreeze repeatedly. This has never happen before and I am not sure what i did wrong, all I know is that this problem starting during a show I was watching on veoh.com and now it keeps happening. The problem continues after I exit the program or website but will not freeze after a restart and letting the pc sit for awhile.

I suspect it could be a cpu problem but I am not sure. I generally keep my computer updated with all window patches and run virus/ general clean up each week.

I also like to point out that if I do not run full screen programs, the program will not occur.

could this also be a memory issue also?

spec are
AMD Athlon 64 x2 4000
2 x 1 gig of ddr2 ram
vista 32 bit home premium

the pc is pretty old "hp pavilion slimline s3100n" but still usuable for basic needs like watching videos but not as of right now :** due to the problem

Re: Computer's instablilty

Try running a scan here http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/ to see if you lack any patches.

Choose the middle option which is for Home Users: Personal Desktop.

Re: Computer's instablilty

here is the scan, ignore the AIM because I would not use the 6.0 version.

EDIT
I updated everything except aim and java because I do not use java so I chose to ignore it. I highly doubt it is Java is causing the problem so I will let it be, however once i updated flash i still have the 2 other version left on the scan.. maybe those are with IE? I don't use ie so I will let those be as well.

Re: Computer's instablilty

sorry better way to putt his is that my computer doesn't really freeze but the frames drop so much that is unusable even without anything running.

Re: Computer's instablilty

All of the programs that have red next to them means they are outdated and you will want to update those programs by going to their website and downloading the latest version of the app.

I believe if you click on solution a link to download the update will be provided.

I noticed you have your flash and java outdated two dangerous programs to have outdated so are the rest but these are worse.

Re: Computer's instablilty

I've updated everything however the problem still has not been solved. The computer lags even before I get into my desktop (during vista load time with bar on bottom). Last time I did get in and did a little test; I played a video, full screen with window media player to see if that will cause the lag and it did. Frames of the entire computer dropped.

It could be a program that is causing this because I am able to use safe mode without causing the issue of 1 fps.

Re: Computer's instablilty

Make sure you also go into your add/remove programs and remove your old Java versions you have installed.

Also what are you using for antivirus and antispyware?

Re: Computer's instablilty

Are you running an Internet Security product like NIS, KIS, etc... ?

Run msinfo32 and save it as an NFO file -
START | msinfo32 | save with default NFO file extension

Zip up the NFO file and attach to your next post.

Regards. . .
