VISTA 32 BSOD--Help!

I am running Vista Ultimate, 32 Bit, Service Pack 2. I have been getting the BSOD 1-2 times a day. This just started last week. I have had 6 BSOD so far. I used WinDbg and discovered it was due to 2 different issues. I do not know how to interpret the issues, nor how to fix them. Can Someone please help?

Here is the first Dump:

Re: VISTA 32 BSOD--Help!

You haven't included the entire dump file (you cut off the tops).
Also, the lmvm command is helpful at times, but there's more to it than just that.

Please describe what you're doing when the crashes happen, what you think may be causing it, and anything that you've done to your system recently. This is the most important part of any diagnosis.

An analysis of the dump file is a snapshot at a point in time of the system. Here's a scenario where the dump file won't contain the info on what caused the crash:

If program A writes to memory that's owned by program B, it won't cause a crash until program B tries to use it. So program A can exit before program B accesses that memory space. When program B finally accesses that memory space it crashes because the contents of that memory space aren't what it expected to find.

I would strongly suggest that you follow the directions in this post to provide us with information about your system and the crashes: http://www.techsupportforum.com/1871981-post2.html

You can find more info about conducting the analysis' here: http://usasma.vox.com/library/post/d...d-02oct08.html
At the bottom is a link to a post where I describe (briefly) how I go about reading the analysis'

Re: VISTA 32 BSOD--Help!

I did the System Info & BSOD Mini Kernel Dump File Collection you reccommended.

I was able to upload the perfmon.zip html file. I tried to upload the TSF_Vista_Support.zip file, but it is 2.4 MB. I zipped it using maximum compression. I was able to compress it into a rar file that is 1.31 MB, so I attached that. If you need zip, is there another way I can send you the zip file? I really appreciate your help. Let me know if there is any other information or files you need.

Thank you,
Larry

Re: VISTA 32 BSOD--Help!

Nope, the RAR will work just fine (there must be a limitation on the size of files that you can upload here).

The perfmon report looks OK at first glance.
There's 7 memory dump files in the RAR file, I didn't analyze the one from Dec 08. The others are from Jun 09 and I'm running an analysis on them right now.

The majority of the bugchecks are blamed on usbhub.sys - which is the default driver that Windows uses to drive USB devices.

Dot4.sys is the IEEE-1284.4-1999 Driver and is a part of Windows

The sbp2port.sys is the SBP-2 Protocol Driver - also a part of the Windows Operating System.

So we're most likely to be looking at a device that is connected to your computer through USB or other ports. Are you using any devices like this?

Since you're updated to SP2, there could be an issue with an older driver on your system that isn't working well with SP2. So, combine this with the USB stuff and the most likely suspect is the usbdpfp.sys driver - which is related to a Fingerprint scanner. Do you have such a device on your system? If so, update the drivers for it.

The rest of the outdated drivers are listed below:

Re: VISTA 32 BSOD--Help!

John,
Thank you very much for your help. I have installed the latest software & driver for my Microsoft Fingerprint Reader driver (Digital Persona). So far no blue screens. I will let it go a week and if I have further problems I will just have to uninstall it.

Again, thank you,
Larry
