[SOLVED] HP Pavilion dv2000 Unexpected system hibernation
Hi All,
I have a strange problem. My system shutsdown unexpectedly. When I shutdown, this is what happens: 1. The system goes blank. 2. The power goes off. 3. On powering on , "Windows Resume" screen comes and I am redirected to login screen and once logged in I can see all my applications - just like hibernation. This problem has started occuring repeatedly now. Could someone please help? I was following the other thread Vista unexpected shutdown and here are the attachments for the three files - AIDA32, CoreTemp and Process Explorer. I don't play games. Could someone please tell me the cause of it? Only yesterday I have formatted my entire laptop thinking that might solve the problem only to face the shutdown again unexpectedly 3 times so far ![]() I have Vista Home Premium. Please let me know if any other information is needed to be supplied. One more attachment to follow. Regards, Karthik |

Re: HP Pavilion dv2000 Unexpected system hibernation
Hi Undockey Wind - it's a software for removing aero interface when the power goes off or when the laptop is running on battery from Codeplex.
But just to note when I was reinstalling the system and when it came to the state for entering date & time it again went into hibernation. Please advice. |

Re: HP Pavilion dv2000 Unexpected system hibernation
Hi -
So, when you try and re-install, it goes into hibernation? Do you have your battery options set to hibernation? I'll get a hardware Mod in here since it's probably a hardware related issue. Saluti . . . . . |

Re: HP Pavilion dv2000 Unexpected system hibernation
Yes, what I meant is during my re-installation of OS i.e. after formatting the primary disk when I got to the screen to enter time & date it went into hibernation. I just checked my battery options and I haven't sent any specific time for hibernation. Again sometimes this happens within a span of 10-20 minutes of resuming the system. Please advice.

Re: HP Pavilion dv2000 Unexpected system hibernation
Hi -
Ah, that's very strange. - Especially when you're installing and it does this, sounds more like a hardware issue - I've PMed a Mod from the hardware team, hopefully he'll post here and help you. Saluti . . . . . |

Re: HP Pavilion dv2000 Unexpected system hibernation
hi wrench97 the temperature showed 95 degrees (51% charge) when it was shutting down. once it powered up it was again about to shut down with this time 101 degrees and 59% charge.. Does this mean a serious problem?
![]() No mine is not a beta version, it's a full version. |

Re: HP Pavilion dv2000 Unexpected system hibernation
Try cleaning the ducts out with a can of compressed air available from office supply type stores , but I think the thermal paste will need to be reapplied and the heat sink may have come loose on the cpu, but the air dusting is a good first step.

Re: HP Pavilion dv2000 Unexpected system hibernation
Hi wrench - thanks a lottt for the reply and thank god it's not any major damage. I would surely get this done with the local service center as I don't have any such equipments. Here are some few questions
1.Does a vacuum cleaner count as one if I were to clean? And also is it safe to dismantle the laptop and cleaning it? I haven't done anything before. 2. Lastly I always keep my laptop on the table and work and sometimes on bed? Is it safe to handle this way? Thank you once again. Regards, Karthik |

Re: HP Pavilion dv2000 Unexpected system hibernation
On the bed could cause problems if the intakes are on the bottom.
A Vacuum usually won't do it the Air Blasters have enough force to knock any dust loose and out of the vents the heat sink is a couple of inches inside. Here is what it looks like> http://www.staples.com/office/suppli...s_10051_SEARCH If you have never worked inside a PC a notebook may not be a good start, if it needs more then just dusting out, you may be best served taking it to a local shop. |
