Re: Vista unexpected shutdown
Hi -
We need more information - system specifications, core temperatures, processes, start up items, there's really sooooo many things that could cause that - we definitely need to get the essentials to solve this thread. Q: How do I get my system specfications, Undocked Windy? A: Why I'm glad you asked, AIDA32 is a great freeware utility that will help. Q: Baaaaaa, why do you need my core temperatures and how do I get them to you? A: Baaaaaa, your system could be overheating and causing it to shutdown without warning. You could be experiencing this. CoreTemp will give you you're temperatures. Q: What are my running processes, and why do you need them? A: Your running processes could determine if you have a ** and you can see all your running processes with Process Explorer.

Re: Vista unexpected shutdown
Everything checked out as far as I can tell.
Describe in great detail what exactly is happening. Also, for your memory dump, I'll get jcgriff2 in here to decipher it since I'm still a rookie.

Re: Vista unexpected shutdown
What is happening is the system is restarting on its own. This can occur at anytime and normally does so when the cpu is under load. The error log refers to an unexpected shutdown occuring but I cannot seem to find anything specifically.

Hi -
Please re-run the batch script - >> 1/2 of the files are missing. PERFMON ran fine (Step #4 - no need to re-run) jcgriff2 . |

Re: Vista unexpected shutdown
Hi -
Are you experiencing problems while running the batch script? If so, please tell me. I need ALL of the files in the TSF_VISTA_SUPPORT folder including the log file. The files that I do have tell me that you either booted-up for the first time or re-installed or Vista 4 days ago using an OEM (Original Equip Manufacturer) version of Vista Home Basic SP1 x64 - ? When did you purchase the system? Was XP ever installed on it? No BSOD before shutdown = hardware problems. I found numerous system post-crash (BSOD) entries in the Event Viewer logs, but only 1 time does it record a bugcheck. The 1 recorded BSOD occurred within hours of the fresh/new Vista install on 5-20-09. The bugcheck was 0x124 - Windows Hardware Error Architecture - WHEA. This points to hardware, but nothing specific. It seems yuou were doomed from the start. These are just 2 of many app crashes. Look at the timestamps (see 2nd code box below) - Code:

Re: Vista unexpected shutdown
Hi,
I did not have any problems runing the batch script. The last file that I attached (batch) was deveoped based on the full batch run. Yes, I did reinstall Vista Home Basic SP1 x64 several days ago in an effort to resolve this issue. It has not helped. You mentioned hardware problems being a possible culprit..any ideas what it might be exactly or how I can test this? |
