[SOLVED] Vista Recovery CD inquiry

I have a Neo Basic 2235 Laptop which comes preinstalled with Vista Home basic Sp1 32bit. It has a recovery CD/DVD and only one partition in hard drive.

Here's what I want to do.

I plan to install XP Pro 32bit on this either by dual booting or erasing Vista itself.
I already did my search for this.

My problem is that I want to preserve my Vista for reinstallation later on.
So here's my question. If I nuked err deleted the partitions in my hard drive, then reformatted as in no trace of Vista left, Will the recovery/rescue CD/DVD still work and reinstall my Vista? I need to do this since I want to learn more and Reformatting is a must for me. However, I'm a bit scared that my laptop would be next to junk if things go wrong. I'm safe with losing my Data since I've already stored it somewhere.

Assistance would be appreciated.

Re: Vista Recovery CD inquiry

Yes they will work. There is a "tattoo" loaded to the bios that detects the computer as a Neo Basic 2235. You could even replace the hard drive and they will still work. You have no worries. The tattoo usually only causes problems if you change the cpu or motherboard only.

Re: Vista Recovery CD inquiry

I see now; thanks for the info. I'll dual boot with XP first thing in the morning.
