New Machine with Vista Lag Problem.

As the title states we purchased a new machine, an acer package with vista. It has an AMD processor, 3 gigs or ram and on board vid and sound. I do not use the machine but do notice my Internet and gaming can be painfully slow when this new machine is on. The problem goes away if I unplug the Internet connection from the wall, is there anything I can do to stop this machine from lagging everyone ? Or what does this mean ?

Re: New Machine with Vista Lag Problem.

It is actually a desktop. The model number is AM 1201-B1603A.

It came with Mcafee antivirus and the internet and process speed is painfully slow on the whole computer.

Thanks.

Uninstall McAfee and try a trailof NOD32. McAfee is as bad as Norton with lagging down a computer

Uninstall McAfee with Revo Uninstaller

Trial of NOD32

Yes its perfectly safe to install a new Anti Virus program and McAfee is just garbage they put on computers because the companies get some sort of deal.

Re: New Machine with Vista Lag Problem.

Yes, you'll have to completely remove AVG as well, since it's very unstable having two Anti-Viruses working together - they nag at each other, eventually giving you're computer a headache, eventually leading to a divorce, then he dies (crashes).

AVG Removal Tools OR Revo Uninstaller (I prefer Revo, myself)

Now, it's all gone, proceed with installing the nod!

HTH

Hmm that Nod expires after 30 days, also I don't have a zipcode so it wont send me the trial.

Re: New Machine with Vista Lag Problem.

Id keep avg free, it may not be the best but doesnt use alot of resouces. But your anti virus wont be your only problem, onboard graphics arnt very good for your gaming, and what speed if your processor?

Sorry didnt see you were using a different machine to your new one, so probaly wont be hardware if its fine when not connected the the internet.

Re: New Machine with Vista Lag Problem.

I'd recommend installing Avast antivirus, it is FREE and much better than AVG.

Re: New Machine with Vista Lag Problem.

Sorry, OP. Everyone is suggesting an anti-virus, this must be confusing.

Re: New Machine with Vista Lag Problem.

Yes it is confusing. Is there any way to make this new machine more efficient in how it uses the internet.
