weird problem in games
Hello, first thanks any consideration my problem receives.
The problem is that when playing games my relatively new laptop runs them smoothly on decent settings but the following symptoms cut in and out once it gets hot: bad input lag game slows down to 5-ish fps then goes abnormally fast as if to catch up I never seemed to have a problem with cod4 but cod:waw and gta4 are unplayable. Lowering detail settings doesn't help. For example in cod:waw at 1200x800 I get about 30 fps most of the time but when it lags it slows down to 5 fps. When I play on 600x480 I get 90fps and it slows down to 10 fps. They lag comes and goes in irregular intervals but drives me insane as once it starts happening it doesn't go away for more than a minute or two. I have p4 core duo and from what I've read they have built in throttling to keep them from getting too hot. Evidently they get too hot? What's the deal? specs are: Gateway P-7811FX Vista 64 bit Intel core 2 duo p8400 @2.26, 2.27 4gb ram Nvidia 9800M GTS with a gig of video ram I am sad please help. |

Re: weird problem in games
All modern CPU's have built in throttling to keep them from overheating, D/L NHC to monitor the temps> http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Control.shtml
Have you tried upgating the video drivers? |

Re: weird problem in games
71C is really high for a CPU? (160F)
http://www.wbuf.noaa.gov/tempfc.htm (Celsius to Fahrenheit) You might want to redo the thermal paste on your laptop's CPU and buy a cooling pad Arctic Silver 5 $9 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835100007 Antec Cooling system for notebook computers Model Notebook Cooler 200 $60 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834997410 |
