[SOLVED] USB speakers not working

I just installed a pair of Logitech USB speakers to my laptop (Vista). As expeckted, my laptop speakers now don't work, but neither do the USB speakers. I've checked all possible MUTE controls and all are off. Using Control Panel>Sound>Playback, I've set the USB speakers as the default. Using the TEST and CONFIG, no tones are going to the speakers. I've tested the speakers on another computer and they work fine. Can someone please tell me what setting I'm missing?

Re: USB speakers not working

PROBLEM UPDATE: By chance I have now noticed that the speakers work just fine if I RESTART my computer. They do not work if I come from HIBERNATION!

Re: USB speakers not working

Thanks for the reply, Undocked Windy, but the article refers to Win XP. I'm using Vista, SP1. Should I proceed with the Hotfix available?

Yes - I see no harm in it.

Re: USB speakers not working

Thanks again, Undocked Windy, but I got another tip which seemed more on point:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933262. Unfortunately this didn't work so I'll guess I'll wait until MS decides to update us with SP2...or upgrade to WIN 7.

Re: USB speakers not working

Yeah, that could be the problem but it seems people only with Vista are experiencing them so that shouldn't the problem (and it says you have XP under "OS"). BUT - if you want; wait until 7.
