[SOLVED] Unable to open an attachment
hi;
My husband sent me an attachment in an email that he created in MS Works using windows XP on his computer. I am using Vista and have MS works installed, but when I try to open the attachment i get a message saying that "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action and wants me to set an association in control panel. I am not sure what this means, and hope someone out there can help me. Thanks Cecile |

On the start menu select default programs/associate file type with program.
Find the file extension in the list to see what program is associated with it. If the file extension is not in the list you will have to install(reinstall) the Works software. What type of file is it(.doc,.xls,.rtf). These are opened by Microsoft Works. Have you tried copying the file to the desktop and opening it there? I know some email services have interface problems when trying to open the attachment from the inbox. Capture.JPG Last edited by pofolks; 04-29-2009 at 01:47 PM. |
