Driver IRQL not less or equal

hi i just built my first computer, and it is crashing often. I know that the ram that i got (ocz reaper ddr2 1066) has failed, but it is stable at 800mhz and my computer is still getting the BSOD frequently even when the ram is set to 800mhz. sometimes when it crashes it says memory modules (which i assume is because of the failed ram) and most times it says driver IRQl not less or equal.
how do i fix this?
thanks

List all hardware specs, including power supply wattage and brand.

Re: Driver IRQL not less or equal

I think you would be better off with a different psu. 2 12rails at 20amps,
then take away the up to 80% efficiency...I dunno..
Have you tried running just one stick of ram at a time? Are the
proper voltages setup for the ram in bios,,say the ram is 1.7volts, is that
the way its set in bios?

Re: Driver IRQL not less or equal

I know that the ram is set up correctly because i went through the RMA proccess and i have ran memtest 86+ many times. if getting another PSU isn't an option is there anything i can do?

Re: Driver IRQL not less or equal

You ran memest 86 times, was this using only one stick at a time?
How long did you run memtest?
Did you check the voltages, and compare to what bios says?
Have you tried running one stick of ram, to see if you get the same
error?
Have you tried using a lesser vid card? Could be a power thing, Im leaning
toward ram, but Im not to impressed with raidmax psu's, this is just
my opinion here...

Re: Driver IRQL not less or equal

i ran memtest 86 with one stick and with both sticks and they had both had errors individually and together.
I also tried it without the graphics card and i still got the same error, and under specs it says that you need a 450 watt powersupply to use the graphics card (it uses 2 75 watt 6pin connectors) so i dont think its the power supply

Re: Driver IRQL not less or equal

Ram had errors with memtest? Well I would say you have a ram problem
Incompatiblity, or something...

Re: Driver IRQL not less or equal

I know the ram has failed but sometimes when my computer crashes it says memory modules which i assume means it crashed because of the failed ram, and sometimes it says DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I was wondering is this a seperate problem caused by a driver or is this still caused by my unstable ram

Re: Driver IRQL not less or equal

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL for me has usually been a issue
of a ram problem. But could be a few other things. The icing on the
cake for you should have been when the ram failed in memtest. The
ram may be ok, but not compatible with the board. You should
look at the qvl for the board, granted not all ram will show up that will
work, but you will have a basis of what ram you should buy.
qvl=qualified vendors list. Were pretty sure ocz, is not on the list, as
well as crucial...You need to look in your manual and check for what
voltages of ram the mobo likes, you can set up to a degree voltages
in bios, but your safer getting the proper ram with the proper voltage.
Crucial, and Ocz might work if its the right voltage.........
