Memory problems
I've been having some memory problems lately, and I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me.
I'll get an error message saying that I don't have enough free memory, and to close certain programs, usually Chrome and Windows Live Messenger (though sometimes other programs as well, such as Windows Sidebar). The funny thing is, my computer isn't running slowly or anything. I have 3 gigs of RAM. If I don't close those programs, things do start to slow down (or come to a screeching halt) and the colour scheme switches to basic and I have to restart (or at least log out and log back into Windows) to fix it. I've checked the task manager when this happens and nothing really seems to be using an excessive amount of memory. I've run spyware/adware scans, as well as a nightly virus scan, and none of it has found anything. I've noticed that it's more likely to happen if I'm running Winamp or if I've watched a few YouTube videos. It's really getting on my nerves, since it seems to happen every night. Does anyone have any idea what I should do? |
