USB problem

Hi there,

I have an HP Pavillion dv6000 with Windows Vista (32-bit) SP1. So, whenever i plug anything into a usb port (or if something is plugged in and i sign into my computer) a bubble comes up that says "USB Device Not Recognized." It won't let me access files from a usb storage device or update my ipod, BUT it will let me charge my ipod or run a usb powered fan. When i bring up my usb ports center it says that they are unknown devices if something is plugged into one of them). Along with this, my built in web cam is no longer recognized

As far as I can tell it just happened one day, I haven't the faintest idea what could have cause it. I've run virus scans to see if it could be a possible result of a bug but found none.

I tried to google the problem but found no similar posts.

I have listed some information i thought might be helpful, but as novice to computer tech I'm not entirely sure.

Driver Version: 6.0.6001.18000
Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
-----------
USB Devices
-----------
+ USB Root Hub
| Vendor/Product ID: 0x10DE, 0x026D
| Matching Device ID: usb\root_hub
| Service: usbhub
| Driver: usbhub.sys, 1/18/2008 21:53:44, 194560 bytes
| Driver: usbd.sys, 1/18/2008 21:53:18, 5888 bytes

I hope some of that may help
Any advice would be much appreciated!
