all web browsers/programs using internet keep freezing/crashing

Hi,

I'm using a brand new system - M2N68AM Asus motherboard with Amd 2.6 ghtz dual core processor running windows vista ultimate sp1.

My problem is all the web browsers/programs using the internet keep freezing/crashing. Everything can work fine for an hour or so then suddenly they simply "stop responding". Same thing happens with ie7, firefox and opera. At first I thought it was my isp or perhaps my modem but I have troubleshooted tested these already. Isp and modem work perfectly on my old p4 running xp. When I reboot everything goes back to normal again?

Any idea's? cos I'm out!

Well it seems I've solved the problem. I can't beleive I didn't think of it before, I failed to mention in my original post that I was using zonealarm as my firewall. Reading some other threads on this forum I noticed a couple of people saying zonealarm caused vista all sorts of problems. So I uninstalled zonealarm and hey presto all is fine again.

I have been using zonealarm as my firewall and avast as my anti virus on my old computer for years so I thought nothing of installing both on my new computer, apparently vista really doesn't like certain programs and configs.

As one post on this forum pointed out, you can't treat vista like xp, vista is indeed a whole different anaimal, one with which I'm unfamilar.

I don't quite trust windows firewall if it's anything like the old one on xp, it is ok? or can anyone recommend a firewall that vista gets along with that works well!
