Computer won't boot
Hi,
I really need help. My computer will not boot up at all. Well, it seems to boot fine (I get no error beep or anything of that kind) but nothing shows on my screen. My screen notices when the computer turns on (the light stops flashing and stay on, but then turns yellow and shows Power Saving Mode) I tried connecting the computer through both analog and DVI cables. The screen works fine when plugged into other computers. Similar results when plugged into other screens. I thought that since it did not seem to be a screen problem, it must've been a video card problem. I simply removed the video card, and attempted to plug the screen into the onboard (part of the motherboard... original) video card. The screen does not get any signal from that source, and does not notice once the computer is turned on. How do I get my computer to load using the original video card (part of the motherboard) ? Thanks a lot . I absolutely need this computer to work. My computer : ACER ASPIRE M5200 QUAD CORE PHENUM 9550 Video card : ATI Radeon HD3650 512MB DDR2 Onboard video card : Some Ati Radeon with 256mb ram. (probably shared). |

Re: Computer won't boot
hi and welcome to TSF try tapping f2 on boot this will take you to the bios and see if you need to turn on the onboard you might also try safemode tapping f8 on boot and see if it behaves differently

Re: Computer won't boot
By the way this problem began all of a sudden. The computer went into standby mode and then wouldn't come out of it (the screen always said power saving mode, the computer was probably not in power saving mode)

still getting a blank screen. I know I would have to get into the BIOS to put the onboard on again... but the thing is I can't know what I am doing in the BIOS since I do not have anything on the monitor. |

Re: Computer won't boot
I just noticed something : i dont get any audio from the booting sequence, nor do I get the sound of the hard-drives coming alive. The fans do not make the usual "turning on" sound, although they do spin.
I'm guessing my power supply's dead ? |

Have you tried booting up with your Vista DVD?
Tried another monitor? |

Re: Computer won't boot
clear your cmos, remove the coin cell battery on the motherboard for a bit, I wait 45 minutes, but it varies. Put it back in and try again. This should get rid of the user defined bios settings and enable the onboard.
