Re: Unable to play Mpg And mpeg file on WMP
Hello manrock111, The problem you are having is probably caused by your having more than one program that is capable of playing an mpg or mpeg file. When a new program is installed, and during its set up, sometimes it associates itself will all files it (the program) can open exclusively.
Go to your Control Panel..click on "Default Programs"..click on "Associate a File Type or Protocol with a Program".....scan down list for .mpg file.....click once to highlight .mpg file...click the "Change Program" button...Select Windows Media Player (or the player you wish to use) .....click OK button. Repeat the above for .mpeg. Did this work? If not.......... Go to Start...Run box..type msinfo32 and click OK..when box opens click on + sign next to Components....then click + sign next to Multimedia..then click once on Video Codecs.....Those are your video codecs> are they all OK Write back with the outcome. Sorry for late reply.
I want to Tell u that this problem is occurs in win 7 os and version is 7057 with all updates. I am here coz there is no forum for win 7 here. and i know this is one of the best community related for pc problem free with great staff support. Now come to topic I think i know the problem now much better now. after subbmition question here i started remove all codecs and still had that problem but then i remove nvidia graphic card driver which is made for xp but i install in compatible mode. After remove that i can able to play mpeg and mpg. Coz win 7 has in build Nvidia driver support but very old driver. 2 days ago in windows update i got latest graphic driver issued by Microsoft., guess what i again have that mpg problem. Main thing is my friend has nvidia 9500 gfc card with some win 7 edition and same driver version but he is not facing problem why? ![]() Can u do with this? in addition i want to tell u that yesterday i download rivatuner overclocking tool made for win 7, it also not detecting my gfx driver version and denied to overclock but my friend have no issue.
