Re: Firefox and IE7 crashing

x64 it is.

Are you using IE 7 x86 ? I don't know if Adobe released x64 flash/ beta yet.

Let's make sure. Go to \program files (x86)\Internet Explorer folder. You'll see iexplore.exe - click on that. Leave it up.

Now go to \program files\Internet Explorer folder - this is of course x64.
Look for same - iexplore.exe - click on it.

Now you have x86 & x64 up - which have you been using?

Re: Firefox and IE7 crashing

Now that we have crashes recorded (I hope), I would like the system information on them. Please follow THESE instructions.

Attach the resulting zip file(s) to your next post.

Re: Firefox and IE7 crashing

So you can get an idea of temps -

Download/ install SpeedFan - so you can see temps while running -
http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

RIGHT-click on SpeedFan desktop icon, select Run as Admin

The SpeedFan screen will appear and show temps. If hot, there will be a fire icon next to it.

Re: Firefox and IE7 crashing

That's good, because I am now posting the instructions for it.

.

Hi -

I located the most recent crash of Adobe Flash in the Event Viewer -
Code:

Event[1]:
    Source: Application Error
    Date: 2009-04-11T15:28:08.000
Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 7.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x47918f11,
faulting module Flash10b.ocx, version 10.0.22.87, time stamp 0x4987a6c3,
exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00147663, process id 0xcd8, application start time 0x01c9baf4bf7a5b12.
The crash occurred under IE 7, shows Flash as the faiulting module and would send the notification screen stating so. But it is wrong. 0xc0000005 is a NT STATUS exception code and = memory access violation. This and many others are the fault of COMODO Internet Security. It must be removed. Start w/ program un-install, then the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Re-boot after un-install.

COMODO also caused the Norton Tool Remover to crash on March 14. Re-run NRT - re-boot upon completion. ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...moval_Tool.exe

Reset the Windows Firewall to its default settings -
START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | click on FirewallSettings.exe above | select the Advanced Tab | click on "Restore Defaults" | Click Apply, OK

Run Vista SFC - system file checker/ repair utility -
START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | right-click on cmd.exe | select run as Administrator | the black command prompt ("DOS") screen will appear | type the following:
Code:
sfc /scannow
Upon completion re-boot to allow files in use to be repaired.

Info on SFC - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947595

Go to Windows Updates and allow all to install.

Go to MS Genuine Advantage and re-validate your Vista installation - www.microsoft.com/genuine

Check your Nero 8 install. A conflict over existing component activation -
Code:

Event[14]:
  Log Name: Application
  Source: SideBySide
  Date: 2009-04-10T21:28:04.000
  Event ID: 78
  Level: Error
  Description:

These 100 are just some of the appcrashes caused by COMODO. Scroll to the right - 0xc0000005

Re: Firefox and IE7 crashing

Why would I need to re-validate Windows? Does something occur that I do not know about?
COMODO is removed, SFC found no violations.
I don't know what you mean by check Nero 8. :/

Flash crashing the browsers is still occurring.

Re: Firefox and IE7 crashing

Re-validating Vista can never hurt.
I've seen some very odd system behavior tamed after re-validation.

www.microsoft.com/genuine - click on button 1/2-way down on left.

The event log entry for Nero said " A component version required by the application conflicts with another component version already active." - I would make sure that Nero is a valid installation.

Re-run the batch script - see if it finishes this time. 1st - delete the TSF folder in docs. Attach zip file. I'll have another look when I get back on Monday.

How are temps? Still flames on the GPU - 67C?

What about Norton?

Re: Firefox and IE7 crashing

Revalidated.
Nero8 works... do not know if that is what you mean.
Norton is removed for good this time.
And,yes, the GPU stays around there, but can go to 75-80 during a game.

Re: Firefox and IE7 crashing

Per the batch log, it is hanging while running the DirectX Graphics Kernel diagnostics test - dxdiag.

See if you can run it and attach the resulting text file

START | dxdiag | save as text file - attach to next post

Re: Firefox and IE7 crashing

Yes, I had trouble before the newest NVIDIA driver. Actually, the newest driver fixed a past issue with FRAPS.

There is one yellow flag. Images provided.

2 Hard Drives, both have 2 partitions. 1st HDD has Vista and my recovery partition. 2nd HDD's 1st partiton is for storage, and 2nd one has Win7.
Also have an external 250GB HDD for backup.

I wouldn't know why it shows that many keyboards/mice. I only have one of each, my keyboard being a Razer Lycosa Mirror, and my mouse a Logitech G9.

CD manager is a USB CD storage carousel. There is a program which controls it. I click on a CD name and it ejects the CD. (Dacal CD Library II)

Recently, both of the above mentioned browsers have been crashing when trying to use a webcam from a simple flash thing.

I have tested it there, as it is simpler to use than going through justin.tv, whice where I would normally broadcast, until this problem come.

I have uninstalled both Adobe Flash and Java (Used flash uninstaller tool form Adobe) , rebooted, and reinstalled, no difference. I did this because Windows said Flash was the problem.

Help?
Solution: 1: Create restore point and take registry backup.
2: Delete all unwated software's, and toolbar, security software's. from program and feature.

3: Delete all temp files.
4: Disable all unwanted services from startup and then delete from registry.
5: reset internet explorer and register all .dll files.
6: scan with spyware removal and hijacthis and trojon removal tool.
7: Restart the computer and check windows update. if found and then update.

No offense to you, sam, but I do not trust you.

Re: Firefox and IE7 crashing

bwknight hi, You can just delete (uninstall) any of the mice and keyboards you don't have. This is just old writing left in the registry..not a biggie. The yellow marked usb reader can be pitched too as windows will reinstall on next boot. SpeedFan can be configured to read fahrenheit unless you dig celsius. 67c is roughly 147f and not bad 170 and up is getting hot. You can also set the alarm in speedfan for when it shows flames. Good free little diagnostic. You probably have done it but theres a test link for flash at macromedia, I mean Adobe....same thing...... Adobe.com/shockwave/welcome
supposedly checks plug-ins and player. It upgraded me to v 10.0.12.36 yet v11.5.0.595 is 3-24-2009? JC will have you tuned up soon, just thought I'd put in my 2 cents.

My System

Re: Firefox and IE7 crashing

Please re-run the batch file again - the log shows it ran for only 4 minutes and the last entry was that it was beginning to run DxDiag. There has not been a single failure of that particular batch script in the 170+ times it was run, not to mention its predecessors with > 1,000 successful completions.

Delete the TSF_Vista folder, download a new copy of the batch file HERE.

If the batch script continues to fail, may be that some hardware piece like RAM or PSU is going.

I am seeing unfamiliar things in your system and if this simple batch script can't run & complete, then something very wrong is going on.

There are devices that you can't identify - the mice, keyboards, etc... how many users are logged on to your system? Are you sure?

Your Vista OS I very well know is x64 - but it shows up everywhere as "32bit Unicode". My x64s as well as those those that I still have files for show as "64bit Unicode". I have seen this before - here as a matter of fact - before successful validation of Vista and Office.

Your previous perfmon report shows this svchost.exe w/ Working set size = 257 MB and Private bytes as 243 MB - one of the highest I have ever seen for this scvhost.
Code:

Distributed Link Tracking Client TrkWks
Tablet PC Input Service TabletInputService
ReadyBoost EMDMgmt
Superfetch SysMain
Windows Audio Endpoint Builder AudioEndpointBuilder
Human Interface Device Access hidserv
Program Compatibility Assistant Service PcaSvc
Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework wudfsvc
Portable Device Enumerator Service WPDBusEnum
WLAN AutoConfig Wlansvc
Network Connections Netman
Diagnostic System Host WdiSystemHost
Desktop Window Manager Session Manager UxSms
I need to see these figures post-COMODO/ Norton.

If you can't get the batch file to run, I will give you line-by-line instaructions to run all 30+ commands individually. If you can run dxdiag manually, there si not reason that the batch file should fail. Next will be the driver verifier w/ logs so we can see exactly what is going on with it.

Regards. . .
