[SOLVED] Sound Problems
Well not problems really, more like a complete lack of sound.
My system: Acer Aspier X1700 Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2220 4 GB Ram 64 bit OS Vista Service Pack 1 I got this computer a week ago, and the sound has never worked. I called acer and they told me to down load a new driver. A Realtek driver. I did this, and installed it, but it didn't work. I called them back, told them it didn't work, and they told me to do the exact same thing again. It didnt work...of course. I cant figure out what I need to do, any help would be great... oh yeah the closest computer shop that I trust not to screw me is over 2 hours away. So taking it in some where is not an option. |

Re: Sound Problems
I don't see any sound drivers on DX report.
Can you run the msinfo32? START | type msinfo32 | the sys info viewer appears | Click on file | Save | choose file name and location like documents. The file extension you will see is NFO. That's what I need. Then go to docs folder, right-click on the NFO file, select "Send to compressed (zipped) folder" - that will make up a zip file using the same name as the NFO file. Attach the msinfo32.zip file to next post JC . |

Re: Sound Problems
HI, if you follow JC's advice we will get the info we need you might find it easier to go to start search and type devmgmt.msc and tell us what shows up under "sound game and video controllers". Do you know where you downloaded the drivers that acer told you to are? You can right click on your soundcard and point the driver update to your downloaded sound card drivers.

Re: Sound Problems
jenae has very good point.
msinfo32 file is corrupted - which is usually caused by to many appcrashes/ apphangs in WERCON - so check wercon out START | wercon - Problem History (top left) - look for sound related 2x-click on line item will provide add'l info. You mentioned that you are hardware guy - I am not. So a question, please - If they told you to download Realtek drivers, doesn't that mean you must have a sound card? |

as for what it says under the Sound, video and game controllers it says Realtek High definition audio. but the icon has the yellow triangle with an "!" in it. |

Re: Sound Problems
Hi, windows indicates you have the right drivers I am afraid code 10 is generic for the device will not work as this is only 1 week old I would recommend you RM it ASAP, you could have additional MB problems.
