Vista Toolbar keeps resetting

Hi,

I am running a Toshiba Satellite A300 laptop, and Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
I have a problem with my windows toolbar. Sometimes when i start up my computer, the toolbar resets to default and the quick launch area becomes huge, and the area in the middle where whatever you have opened is displayed, is shortened to an inch. I unlock the taskbar, and then fix it, and then lock it again.

Any solution would be greatly appreciated.

Does this happen on other user accounts on that system?

no i only have my account on the laptop.

Hi -

OK only 1 account - that's fine. Please activate the Vista hidden admin account & see if same thing happens.

To activate the Vista hidden admin account, do this -

START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | right-click on cmd.exe above under programs - select run as admin. Then type

Code:


net user administrator /active:yes

Logoff your account and the user account named Administrator will be waiting for you at the logon screen. 2x-click on it.

ok, i tried that.
i logged in with the admin and the toolbar was fine. but when i logged back into my own account, it reset the tooalbar again.

lately it has only been doing it on random start ups?
it wont be consistent.

Hi, probably an errant DLL open command prompt (run as administrator) and at the prompt type:-

Code:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll  press enter

You should get a confirmation. Reboot to take effect.

ok, tried that, but after the reboot, the toolbar was reset again.
