Mistake Sick of having to reinstal software after a format!!!

Hi , this question is mainly for my Vista Laptop ,, but also applies to my Eee PC netbook

i use music production software such as cubase, protools and reason, i use software like winrar and Magic ISO, i also have got codecs instaled for the viewing of Divix films,

now every time i perform a format or system recovery i ether end up with a bare instalation with no software (apples to XP laptop - Eee PC Fresh XP Isnstall) or i end up with what came pre-istaled with my sytem (applies to vista laptop - Recovery via the use of recovery disks)

but oviously i will lose all the software i regularly use!

which is very irritating!
is there any way to make some sort of image or copy of not only the system but also all the software and settings i regularly use including antivirus and internet security software?

so when i get a virus i can put a disk(s) in and format and Whey!!! i not only have my XP/Vista Freshly reinstaled but i also have all my favorate programs ready to use and working correctly ,, with all the same security settings and even the small settings that make your computer your own,, such as the computer letting you know in the bottom right when there is wireless connections availible.

this would be a imensley powerfull tool for me ,, because when i have to format i always have to set aside a good day or two to complete all these tasks, and it is just a bit irratating ,, with this kind of tool at my disposal i would be able to carry out these tasks in a couple of hours :D

anyway any info would be much appriciated
, thanx in advance for the replys :D

You can use a program called nLite.

You will need a windows disc and not the system recovery discs that come with most PC's. (I think)

Search for it and see.

Re: Sick of having to reinstal software after a format!!!

that program is to remove certain components out of the windows instilation,, i want to back up what i have instaled after the instalation ,,, (e.g software that has licences that need to be entered to work like antivirus software) and store it like an image or summat, wen i get a virus or me pc starts to slow down i can just boot off that and re instal windows and it will re-install everything automaticaly....

any help would be gr8 :)
