I'm getting the strangest occasional error when I try to type a single quote: it sometimes prints the y-with-umlaut (two dots on top) character. I cannot for the life of me figure out the relationship between these two characters! It pops up every now and then--I'd say about twice a week--and doesn't go back until I restart my system. It's not debilitating or anything, just really annoying and confusing. It's not confined to any particular program, either; although I notice it most in my web browser (Firefox), that could well be because I use the browser more than anything else, and once it happens anything I try to type makes that error (e.g. in MS Word, Notepad, etc.).
Any thoughts? ![]() Dell Inspiron 1318 Windows Vista Home Premium, SP1 Firefox v3.0.7 |

Re: Single quote prints umlaut y??
You got it, thanks! I have another English keyboard layout + Hebrew and for some reason left alt-shift only switches to the Hebrew keyboard and doesn't cycle through the two English ones...
I set left alt-shift-1 to the regular English keyboard. All is well. |
