I'm using vista home premium OS in my laptop for some months now, just these past few days, I noticed that the power, sound, network icons doesn't display anymore on my system tray, can you guys help me figure this out and fix it? even if I right click the system tray then go to properties, it says those three things are disabled. see the screenshot below

Re: vista system tray icons help!! :(
Hi, this is most likely caused by a windows update you will need to do some reg mods to fix this. I cannot replicate the problem so I want you to backup your registry settings before you do this (also create a restore point). Go to start search and type regedit open registry editor. Navigate to:-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify Then in the right payne right click and delete:- IconStream PastIconStream Do not reboot go to taskbar right click and select "task manager" under processes select explorer.exe and click on "end process" go back to task manager "applications" and select new task in the box type explorer.exe press OK . Now check the notification tray (properties and check what you want)
