How do I turn off virus scan in Vista ?

I am trying to see video from a site. The Windows media player opens but the video does not start. It just says `Ready' below the window. I was told that I should not have any virus scan running. So I need to turn it `off'. Please help me how I can do that.
Thanks.

hi you need to go to the antivrus control panel to make changes however this would be a dangerous thing to do as you leave yourself unprotected are you sure you dont need a codec package or another media player like vlc

Which site is the video from? Many malicious sites will ask you to do things that allow it access to your system.
Post the link and we will be able to assess the situation better

Re: How do I turn off virus scan in Vista ?

My brother has a laptop with Vista. The video comes on his PC. I have an old Dell PC, 500MHz CPU with XP. It works on that. My Desktop PC has CPU at 2.4GB and 2GB of RAM. The site people say all that you need is a Windows player. I don't have any problem with Youtube/ CNN videos etc.
The site is xxx.ooxtv.com. They have a DEMO link also. I paid a monthly subscription to watch Cricket. Their technical support is very poor. I explain to them in details. After a week all I get is "are you still having problems".
Thanks

Does the demo link play for you?
If not does it try open in your browser or does it open up separately in Media Player?
