i recently accidently deleted a bunch of files from registery editor and now my computer won't reboot. it says that there has been a software change and offers me to use fixing tools that don't do anything. i cannot login but it lets me choose from options that include command prompt but i'm lost on how to get those files back. i do not have the cd to vista because it was already on the hard drive but the computer can't find them. i might be able to borrow a cd but then what? help please!!

Re: Anyone know what to do?
and welcome to the ForumYou might be able to do repair install, but that rarely fixes a corrupt registry . . http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88...all-vista.html only other option at this time is to back up the data and reinstall. Depending on the Brand of the pc, you may have a recovery facility on the drive. When you first turn it on, do you see a prompt to press some key to do a recovery? Most major OEMs will send a replacement install DVD

Re: Anyone know what to do?
That is the number one reason why you shouldn't use a registry editor or cleaner. If you can get a hold of a Vista disk I would run a repair install. This will fix the system files and hopefully the registry but will not result in loss of personal data. That would be your best bet
