Usb issue.
Ok, I am at a loss for what to do. Whenever I plug in my maxtor 750gig harddrive(or either of my other 2 external harddrives) I get the wonderful message.(This device can perform faster if plugged into a usb 2.0 slot. I ignored it and tried to move a 2gig movie on to it and its starts at 60mbps and gets half way done and then freezes and slows down to 50kpbs. I tried a ton of things.
I tried every USB port on my motherboard(same message for all) I updated my Nforce drivers at Asus. I went into bios and made sure legacy controller and usb 2.0 was enabled. I uninstalled my Host Controllers and made sure they reinstalled. Installed all possible windows updates. Here are my specs. Vista 64bit Edition AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe motherboard Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX 4 Gigs of Ram This is what it says under Universal Serial Bus Controllers:( -Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller -Standard OPpenHCD USB Host Controller -USB composite Device -USB Root Hub -USB Root Hub -Mass Storage Device Its driving me nuts and i could use any help i could get. Thx |

Re: Usb issue.
Hi -
Check the Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc) and also WERCON (wercon.exe) for more detailed information on the USB problem. I have not encountered that message on a Vista system. Regards. . . jcgriff2 . |
