Vista dvd drive issues

My problem is that any DVD's or CD's that I put into the drives causes the PC to lock up forcing me to reboot. This appers to only happen in Windows Vista.

Everything is hooked up correctly physically...the computer shows the drive when you look in windows explorer It shows DVD-RAM(D:). I can also view the poperties of the drive. As soon as i put a disk in my pc just locks up it will also refuse to get past the logon screen if i leave the disk in. Downloading and instaling the drivers / Firmware has not corrected this (Although I have not found any drivers for the drive itself). I tried deleting the upper or lower filters but nothing was there.

The computer will boot from CD's/DVD's
I have installed Windows Vista from the this Drive.
I am not having this issue on my Windows XP partion and it will read disks and appers to work fine.
I also have a hard drive on another sata connector and that works fine.

Vista Home Basic (32bit)
LG GH22LS30 (SATA) drive
A-N68SV motherboard
AMD 64bit X2 5600 Duel core CPU
Nvdia 9600GT Graphic card
