Vista Basic
a friend brought over a computer that runs Vista basic that just will not allow login go to safe mode says windows can not be authenticated in safe mode go to normal however unable to login the normal way either wondering if there is a way to make the recovery disks in the command line mode? as I can reach the advanced options for the system

There should be a recovery partition that you can invoke to begin system recovery. Try F10 during boot-up. Otherwise, call the system manufacturer and provide the serial and product number located on the bottom of the laptop.
