Hi there,
So about a few months ago my IE7 started crashing, so I switched to Mozilla which of course works like a charm. However, IE7 will randomly pop up, white screen, with a box saying that IE has stopped working close program. I always click it, and the box might disappear but 7 new ones will show up. It's getting incredibly annoying, and I thought that possibly updating the IE would help it, so I got the Beta version, but now it's disabled my McAfee which isn't protecting my computer any longer, and I can't fix it because a white box appears instead of the Security Center. I went looking for the IE7 Beta to uninstall, but I can't find it anywhere. I tried the Run uninstall, and to look by updates in the Add/Remove programs. I'm wondering if I accidentally deleted it, but I don't know how I could have done that. Please help! I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 |

Re: IE crash for no reason McAfee won't work
Hi -
Are you speaking of IE8 beta? There is no IE7 beta - IE7 comes w/Vista and is a production version. What you want to do is to un-install IE8 - then re-boot. IE7 should re-install upon re-boot. Look in Program Un-installs for IE8. If not there, use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 Un-install McAfee via the Mcafee removal tool. It is not compatible with IE8 and causes major headaches in Vista in general. McAfee Removal Tool - http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocumen...107083&lc=1033 Finally, reset the Windows Firewall to its default settings - START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | click on FirewallSettings.exe above | select the Advanced Tab | click on "Restore Defaults" | Click Apply (if hi-lighted) | Click OK Happy New Year! Re: IE crash for no reason McAfee won't work
It must be the IE8 beta then.
I downloaded the Installer Cleanup utility but when I click the .exe file to install it a box comes up with error, permission denied, runtime error |

Re: IE crash for no reason McAfee won't work
It probably won't show in the windows uninstaller utility It is downloaded as an update so :-. Click the Start Button and select Control Panel.
2. Select Programs (Programs and Features if you’re using the Classic View). 3. Select View installed updates (it will be under the Tasks column if you’re using the Classic View). 4. Find and select Windows Internet Explorer 8 from the list of available updates. 5. Click the Uninstall button at the top of the list. 6. Restart your system.
