My InstallShield doesn't work anymore. Help!

EDIT: Never mind, I tried to revert everything back to the original InstallShield again with renaming and it appears to be working correctly now.

I tried installing the Sims on my laptop but ran into a lot of problems. At one point it actually uninstalled itself when trying to fix it, but then wouldn't let me reinstall because "It was already installed".

I went to EA for troubleshooting and eventually found myself at this page:
http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/olh_adp.php?p_faqid=10713&p_created=1124387761&p_sid=$p_sid

And tried this:
Reinstall the installation InstallShield software.

1. Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
2. Select Run.
3. Type C:\Program Files\Common Files into the text box and click OK.
4. Right-click the InstallShield folder, and select Rename.
5. Change the name to InstallShieldOld.
6. Start the game installation again to reinstall the InstallShield components with the newest version.

And now, whenever I try to install anything, I get this:
"Error extracting support files:

The system cannot find the path specified."

I don't even care about The Sims anymore... what can I do to fix this?
