Confused Problems saving since installing Vista SP1

Hi,
I installed Vista sp1 on my partners laptop last week to enable her to run Adobe Indesign trial, all was fine until then. Since the installation we cannot open any attachments from her emails(hotmail) doesn't matter what type of file it is be jpeg, pdf, word doc, the same prob applies. When you try to open or save the file you get the little progress box shows the download then that closes and nothing . I have tried to save to different folders etc but still the same, even done a full search for the file but it doesn't seam to exist on the computer.
I have gon back on the restore points but no joy, used the tools memu and cleared temp files etc, run chk disc
The laptop is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo dual core ,2gb ram, with Vista
Home Premium OS 32bit.
Any ideas please, before I try a full vista restore as a last resort
Cheers Germ

Re: Problems saving since installing Vista SP1

Is this an upgrade from XP to Vista?

Where are you trying to download to (folder)?

You can receive mail itself - and send? Can you download files if not email attachments?
