External HD Unusable - Suspect Windows is to Blame
I bought a 1TB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive about 3 weeks ago. Up until now, I've used it with no problems. Now, all of the sudden, it is beyond sluggish.. its slow to the point that I can't access my data in any reasonable timeframe or watch movies or listen to music directly off the HD.
Upon further investigating, I found that several processes are accessing a bunch of files on the drive. Specifically the images "WUDFHost.exe" (PID 2000) and "System" (PID 4). Between the two of them, they must be accessing over 50 files. What are these processes, and why are they hogging the read speed of my USB Hard Drive?! I appreciate any insight anyone might have. Thanks, Michael |
