[SOLVED] Can I Make A Recovery Partition?

Hi guys and girls. I’m Mike

About a year ago I sent my PC back to HP because it was broke. Before I sent it back it had 500GB Hard Drive and 9GB recovery partition. When I got it back however it had and still has 372 GB hard drive and no recovery partition? I then went back to the store I got it from to ask them why. They made fake receipts saying I bought the cheaper version which has 300GB I think, they said I should be happy I got 72GB free (even though they don’t sell a 372GB one). I had no way to back myself up because when I took it back to be repaired they kept my receipt and said I don’t need it now. Because I didn’t think this was going to happen I thought nothing of it. Because they removed my recovery partition I cant make recovery discs and cant format my PC from boot up. So I was wondering can I make one with the hard drive partition I have left? I tried Acronis True Image, all I can seem to do is make a copy of my hard drive in its current state. My PC is running slow and anti-spyware + anti-virus's don’t help. Alot of programs no longer work on my PC. Can anybody help me?

Thank You

Hi Mike. . .

You could contact HP and state case. Resolution in about 20 years.

For faster method, you can order replacement Vista recovery DVDs from HP - I believe cost is < $20.

Re: Can I Make A Recovery Partition?

You're welcome. You did the work and what you have gone through...

That store - is it a chain or an independent? I would not go back there again.

Before you do a re-install, I would highly suggest that you run Belarc Advisor and check the key codes out. Who knows what they may have done. Problems with activation or the product key during/after re-install would be more headaches you don't need. It will also give you a list of system devices and installed programs and Windows Updates. Belarc will open in an IE7 or FFox screen. The keys are about 1/2-way down the page in the center.
