I had a virus (can't remembethe exact name) but what it does is slow the PC right down, and CPU usage to 100% along with sending details to remote computers. Any way Norton picked it up and I clicked delete and restarted but still the was slow (It became slow suddenly so it's not a general performance issue, also running in Safe Mode the PC is fine and in normal with all extra programs (such as MSN etc) exited it was slow)
I have lost my Vista disc literally turned the house inside out upside down. So I downloaded a legal repair disk from microsoft (that boots) but ti didn't pick up anything, so I backed up my HDD to reinstall windows. But obviously I can't because I can't find my vista disc. I built my own PC (about a year ago) so I got Vista Ultimate 32-bit at a discount (OEM). I have 2 questions, is it possible to perform a non-clean install of vista, so it doesn't replace my programs and personal files? Can I download a copy of Vista install disc (ultimate 32-bit) and use that (I have a legit activation code that I stuck on the back of my PC) frma torrent site or other? (I understand you really pay for the code not the disc) Thanks Jonathan |

Re: Had a virus need to reinstall
Hi Jonathan. . .
What was this? There is no Microsoft sanctioned download site for Vista. MS does offer a free trial of Server 2008 w/ renewal up to 240 days. Server 2008 x86 is Vista SP1 x86. This may buy you time to find your Vista OEM DVD. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/e.../cc137123.aspx Regards. . . jcgriff2 . |

Re: Had a virus need to reinstall
Basically it was the Windows Vista disc but it didn't have the files in install it on your PC only repair.
Do you know of any torrents or direct downloads preferably, that I can download the Vista disc without an activator as I already have the code, it should be just like borrowing the disc from a friend. And what about a non-clean install Thanks |
