Registry problems, Vista Sidebar, Aim 6.0 etc. Please Help
Well, my trouble on this OS began when my CD/DVD drive stopped being recognized by iTunes and Roxio. I went through trouble shooting steps such as reinstalling and updating the drivers, as well as deleting upper and lower registry filters. This did not work, any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
but then it gets worse. A friend of mine tried to import his registry onto my computer to "fix" my problem, however, this resulted in failure. and now my vista sidebar will not load widgets correctly and my Aim 6.0 no longer works, so i had to downgrade to AIM 5.9. This may not seem like a big problem, but it is indeed a major annoyance. I tried to use system restore to undo the registry change, but windows always fails to restore my computer no matter which point i choose. I do not know if this problem can be solved, but if it can, again, any help will be appreciated. If my second issue cannot be solved, i am willing to do a full format recovery, however i would want to back up my programs to an external hard drive to be reinstalled later. is this possible? and if so, is there anything i should be aware of before doing this? i know this is a long read, but i am unsure of what i should do to get my computer back to normal. so if anyone can help me, please do. The computer i am using is a Sony Vaio laptop (vgn-nr120e) running Windows Vista Home Basic. If any other information is needed, i will gladly provide it. thank you for at least reading this post. |
