No POST after Vista install??
Hello,
I recently decided to install Vista 32 bit on a machine that had been successfully running XP Pro on it for months. This was not an upgrade, it was a clean install. After the Vista install completed and the machine restarted it was black screen from then on out. The machine no longer boots or completes the POST process - just a black screen. I am unable to access the BIOS either. Is it possible that my motherboard and/or processor is fried? Machine specs: Intel D875PBZ motherboard P4 3.2GHz processor - socket 478 4GB memory - Buffalo PC3200DDR Dual Channel - 2 matched sets Cooler master 500w PSU NVIDIA 6800GT video card Primary IDE C: drive standalone Secondary IDE D: DVD drive standalone What I've tried: Remove power cable and CMOS battery over night Reseat the processor Reseat the memory - tried to boot with 1 stick, 2 sticks etc Reseat video card Reseat IDE cables Remove and reinstall entire motherboard and all connections Replace PSU with 750w Corsair Tried all drives+cables, video card and PSU in other machines and they work fine Tried working video card All drives power up, all fans power up but no POST, just black screen. This machine worked PERFECTLY with XP on it, for months. Anything else I can try? The only thing I do not have access to is another P4-based motherboard to try the processor in. Please tell me I don't have to trash this board?!?! Thanks in advance. |
