NTDETECT Failed using Vista
Hi,
My wife's laptop is an Acer Aspire 3680 running Vista. At present, I am receiving the following error message: "Setup is insepcting your computer's hardware configuration.... NTDETECT failed" I have powered the laptop off, removed the battery, waited and then powered up only to receive the same message. I cannot get passed this point. The laptop apparently does not have Recovery CD either. I attempted to boot to Safe Mode, but it wanted me to go into the Recovery mode; which I did and it found a few files corrupted. It appeared to be "repairing" those files (or so I thought...). Now it is in an endless loop always giving me the above NTDETECT failed error. I need assistance please!
