Lost WMP
My C://Program Files/Windows Media Player folder is completely empty (no .dll or anything) and when i try and download it from microsoft it says i have the newest version and i dont need to update. what do i do?
i know i can restore back to the to the last windows update, but i only want to do that if its the only option. Also, will any of my files be deleted if they were created after the restore point(if i restore)? Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 Windows Media Player 11-i think(the most recent one) |

Re: Lost WMP
This is not a "technically sound" method, but you can try it if all else fails. Get someone else who has Vista SP1 - make sure they went to Windows Update and got all their patches. Then go to their WMP folder, copy all the files, zip them, send them to yourself, then unzip them to your WMP folder. Hopefully things will work. And yes, WMP11 is the version bundled with Vista - I don't believe there are any WMP installs for Vista on the Microsoft site anyway.
(I got this idea when another poster did it with Outlook Express (aka Windows Mail) - all his files disappeared mysteriously). |
