Vista Extremely! slow startup

I am having an issue with my laptop that I have been unable to remedy. When restarting or turning on my laptop It loads up windows to a black screen with a mouse cursor. I can hit ctrl+alt+delete and open the task manager. With the task manager open, under the services tab, LanmanServer is stuck at starting. I takes 5 minutes + for that service to start, once it does the desktop appears and the rest of the startup is almost instant.

This all started about a month ago when I had a couple alerts of a trojan on my laptop pc. I posted in the hijackthis forum and one of your security members helped me remove all virus and malware on my pc. They have cleared my pc and said it was clean but were unable to help with this issue. During the process of removing the malware I have changed many things on my pc and downloaded several programs to protect against viruses. I thought maybe one of these new programs was causing the issue so I uninstalled them one by one checking to see if startup had got any better. Nothing solved it so I reloaded them all. I have ran a windows update, defraged the hard drive, ran ChkDsk, and did sfc /scannow. Nothing seemed to fix the issue. Any help is much appreciated, the pc runs fine after a 5+ minute startup.

System info is as follows

Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack1 (build 6001)
Dell Vostro 1500
