Vista shutting down randomly
I purchased an Inspiron 1525 6/08. It started shutting down randomly when I would start to key in p/w or a web address. When I turned it back on it either goes to safe mode page or, p/w screen, then it goes back to exactly where I was keying in. Shop determined it was a hd failure and replaced. It is still doing the same thing. Please help!

Re: Vista shutting down randomly
Hi. . .
Check the Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc) Filtered Admin 1st to see what events prior to "crash". WERCON (wercon.exe) - most likely no solutions there, but it should list the detail on apps. Then go to Reliability Monitor (perfmon /rel) - look at detail on app hangs - are your in there? Test your IE7 connection and stability in SAFEMODE w/ Networking. Do you get kicked off here like in normal windows operation? If not, look at anti-virus & 3rd party firewall product. Does the same happen if using Firefox for Internet? Reset IE7 (inetcpl.cpl). Click on Advanced tab & restore to default settings. Regards. . . jcgriff2 . |
