Vista makes computer freeze when i try to access internet
Hi there. Can someone please help.
This must be a common problem with Vista. I have a brand spanking new 8gb computer that came with Vista Home Premium 64 bit installed. I have had it for around 3 weeks. Everything has been fine up until last night when the computer suddenly froze. Nothing whatsoever would respond including trying to access task manager. Eventually i got a black screen with the message "Logon process has failed to create the security options dialog" I have to then switch off the computer at the back to restart but again when i try to open my web browser the computer freezes once more. I am 100% virus free. The computer came with Bullguard which is updated regularly and i installed Ad Aware & Spybot S&D myself. These programs have worked fine for the last 3 weeks so i can only imagine a recent update has totally goosed my computer. I can only access the internet in safe mode with networking which i am doing now and this is why i am able to post. I have searched the microsoft database along with a few other forums and there is a possibility this problem may be down to Windows Defender. Apart from that i am clueless as to what to do to help. I have sent Microsoft support an email but god knows when i will get a response. I have uninstalled Spybot and reset IE7 to original settings. I have also managed to update all the recent Windows updates. Please can someone help. Anything you need to know just ask Ally |
