Vista super slow every couple of days
Hi, I have returned here because Im so sick of my problem!
The last time i was here, my Vista was very slow no even system recovery could help. Well, I got my comp to some computer pros and they were able to remove the lag. Lets start from the day I got the comp. Well, I got the comp and I was happy coz everything worked just perfect as it should. But after a couple of days when I played mabye for 4 hours, the computer started to respoce slower so I thought "Oh its getting tired, better reboot..." After the reebot the computer booted for mabye 20 minutes, if I wanted to run any application it took me another 20 minutes to just get it started "Ccleaner for instance". So I got worried and thought this was the same thing I got last time so first I tried to restore the computer to a previous date which is whan I installed Battlefield 2 (I remembered that everything was working just fine then). After the recovery, everything came back to normal, but I lost a couple of things on my computer which I had to reinstall. So I do this restore to the same day every time i get this, and I get this like every 2 or 3 days. Today I got this again and Im just tired to have to resotre my computer every time and have to reinstall what I lost. [b]Please help me with this! Ill be greatfull9[b] Some things that I know will be suggested, here is a pre answer to them: 100% sure that my computer is not too weak for Vista! have checked my startup and the only thing I have there is Steam, the rest are Windows programs. My computer is not full, I have 500GB of free space left. I dont have any Vista CD, I got the computer with Vista here (stragne?) Just because I have Vista on my computer, I cannot install any other operating system :(And in the end I would like to say that when I for example start internet explorer and like surf 5 minutes on the internet, than the internet speed is back to normal. But still everything on the computer is very slow. Also Im not sure if it matters but the last thing I installed was LimeWire Pro on my computer, I have used this program on my old computer tho and never had problems. |

Re: Vista super slow every couple of days
First of all, if you use <alt> Print Screen, you will capture only the active window,so you won't have such a large picture to post.
In most computers that didn't come with a system recovery disk, the D: drive is the system recovery, so having it close to full is pretty normal. Since the problem seems associated with one of the items you installed, either Battlefield or something afterward, one or more of them might need to be run in compatibility mode. Beyond that, here is an answer I posted in another thread for someone with a similar problem. From your post, it looks like you've already tried some of the things I mention, but maybe some others will be usefull. --- The behavior you describe is most often associated with resource limitations that can develop either when a computer is reaching maximum memory capacity, or maximum simultaneous processes. The memory problem can be solved by archiving old data files and removing them from the hard drive, and by clearing cookies, temp directories, and a few other locations, then defragging the disk. Once these optimization steps are done, virtual memory can be reset to accomodate the higher workload. Simultaneous processes are a little more difficult, because sometimes it's very hard to determine which processes are needed by applications you use, and which are not. The first thing to do is make sure there are no known malicious programs running. There are several very good anti-virus, anti-spy, and firewall/defender type utilities available.

Re: Vista super slow every couple of days
Im greatfull for your answer, I there any way I can track the program that causes this? And why would a game like Battlefield which I got straight from the store do this. My primary suspect is Lime Wire but again this has happend without Lime Wire being installed on the computer
~~~ When I wanted to install XP on my computer, I booted from the disc and the loading on the blue screen started, but after it finishes it says taht it cannot continue because some file is damadged. I think it is my disc D which i showed on the screen in my last post that prevents me from installing any other OS. HOW CAN I INSTALL XP ON MY COMPUTER! PRETTY PLEASE :P |
Re: Vista super slow every couple of days
I've been told that some computers that come with Vista cannot run XP because there aren't XP drivers for some of the components. I've also been told that drivers are being developed for many of these items.
Have you tried installing your XP applications in compatibility mode? If you still want to "downgrade" search TSF for existing threads about replacing Vista with XP. You might also consider dual booting. You'll have two OS's on your computer, and can run your XP based on XP. I don't know much about this, but there are folks here that can help you. If you don't find what you need via search, post a new thread in this forum with a descriptive title. Your title for this thread is a good example for the original problem you asked about.
