Windows Update, System Restore not functioning
I recently had some security issues on my laptop, I posted here in the Hijackthis forum and was helped through the process of cleaning out laptop. Everything seemed to work great and I had added many programs to secure my pc. I then updated my desktop with the anti-virus, firewall, spyware ect... This is where the problem ocurrs. After adding the programs Windows Update does not function at all. Upon starting Windows update, the update window opens and stalls out blank screen. I have AntiVir, Zonealarm, SpywareBlaster, and Hostsman all running. I also changed my browser to firefox.
In my many attempts to get windows update to run I found out that System Restore also will not boot up. Upon clicking the system restore icon nothing happens, it does however come up in the task manager list of processes as rstrui.exe but is not visible on screen. I have disabled all spyware, firewall, antivirus, even changed my browser back to IE7 and deleted firefox and still am unable to get these programs to function. Any help would be much appreciated, this problem is now on both my desktop and laptop pc. here is a link to previous thread in Hijackthis forum http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...e-removal.html |
