Pin Some Internet sites close/freeze without a reason. What can I do?

Hi,

first of all I should probably point out that I am not much of an expert with computers... Anyway, my question is about the internet. Sometimes I want to visit some sites and shortly after I open them, the window closes without any previous notice. The second problem I have is that some sites, even though they stay open, freeze and I have to press ctrl alt del to close them to make my computer work again. This happens for example with www.viamichelin.com, or for example on www.facebook.com, but there it is only when I want to view other people´s profiles. I have this problem for a while now, tried to scan the computer with several programs and none of them helped. I want to buy Eset Nod32 now and see if it helps but I have doubts it will... Do you have any idea what could be the cause of the problem? I am pretty sure it must be some virus or spyware, even though the antiviruses and windows defender didnt detect anything. Thank you very much!

Sorry, I don't know what might be causing your issue, though I'd suspect a firewall setting as the culprit. However, I thought you might be interested in knowing that you don't need to actually buy NOD to give it a shot at fixing your problem. You can download a free 30 day trial version here.

Re: Some Internet sites close/freeze without a reason. What can I do?

Hello tucnacek

Go to internet options from either control panel or tools in IE7 itself.
Click the Advanced tab and then click Reset (at the bottom). That gets rid of the assorted rubbish that accumulates and should restore Internet Explorer to a sensible state.

You will need to reset preferences like the search supplier and when you go back to sites that need ActiveX components, you may need to download and install them again. Flash etc.

I recommend making a note of what asks for permission to install and the point at which IE stops behaving. That way you can link the one to the other and work out what is messing it up.

Also make sure your video drivers are updated.
