Directx 9.0c install help

I'm trying to install DirectX 9.0c on Vista, but no matter the method I try (whether through the Microsoft Website or through Spore which I just bought), it comes up with the error message:

"An internal system error occurred.
Please refer to DXerror.log and DirectX.log in your windows folder to determine the problem."

I looked at those and have no clue what's going on. Anyone able to help?

Re: Directx 9.0c install help

Hi. . .

Vista comes stock with DirectX 10. What exactly are you trying to download and why if I may ask?

DirectX 9.0c - v4.09.00.0903 followed by v4.09.00.0904 - came out in 2004 for XP SP2.

DirectX 10 v6.00.6000.16386 = Vista RC, Nov 2006

DirectX 10 v6.00.6001.18000 = Vista SP1, Feb 2008

Regards. . .

Re: Directx 9.0c install help

I'm trying to install Spore, but when I try to run it, the DirectX goes all wonky.

If I already had DirectX 10, did I completely screw everything up by trying to install DirectX 9.0c?

Re: Directx 9.0c install help

Sorry... what is Spore?

Do you know if it is Vista compatible? Did it actually install or are you trying to install it (vs. running it as an already installed program)?

Did this program specifically ask for 9.0c?
