[SOLVED] dire need of help
Hey there,
I have gotten myself into a predicament that I can't fix. I am the sole user of this computer but silly me changed my user account from Administrator to standard - and added parental controls to keep unwanted crap out. Now I can't delete or add anything. I am so used to windows 98 that this is confusing. Please put it in simple terms that I can follow. Thanks Sharon

Re: dire need of help
Hi. . .
I suggest that you go back into your system and copy any files that you may need out as you will need to re-install Vista since you have demoted the only user account that you have from an admin to a standard user account. You can copy out any user-profile files such as Pictures, documents, music, etc... but you will have to re-install any installed programs after you re-install Vista. Usually to return your computer back to factory default settings (the way it was when you turned it on for the first time) is to hit the F10 key during boot-up. If this does not work, check you owners manual. Regards. . . jcgriff2 . |

Thanks for the help, but I got really desperate this morning and called Acer tech support - they don't deal with software. The gentleman I spoke to sent me, by sms, how to reset factory default settings - which is the same as what you have given me. I have written it down for the next time (hopefully not).
Thanks again Sharon |

Re: [SOLVED] dire need of help
Hi Sharon. . .
You may want to think about creating a 2nd user account as a reserve in the event that something like this happens again. Good Luck to you... jcgriff2 . |
