Display blinks then stays blank and fan runs fast
I have a Gateway GM5664 with windows vista premium. I'm not sure of any service packs. Lately my monitors have been blinking on and off four or five times and then they stay off and the fan starts running really fast. The only way I've been able to stop this is to press and hold the power button then restart the computer. No error message is shown. I have not had any recent crashes and have not installed any new software. Sometimes my computer will be fine all day and sometimes this happens after only a couple of minutes. I have scanned with an updated version of AVG and Spybot. Neither program found anything. Does anybody have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated and let me know if more information is needed.
