Vista Only Loading in Safe-Mode

Hi Guys,

I have a toshiba laptop which has been working perfectly well for the last 5 months. About an hour ago I was cleaning it and accidently I improperly shut my laptop down.

It now won't load. It gets to the improper shut down screen which tells me it was not properly shut down at last use. If I then choose to start windows normally it will give me the toshiba logo but then stays blank. Normally I would then be taken to the password screen but at the moent I am getting absolutely nothing but darkness.

I can enter through safe-mode (with networking) and have attempted a system restore which it will not allow. Instead it delivers the message windows has detected file system corruption on vista (C and says I can do a disk check when I next reboot - except of course I cannot reboot!!

So I am a little baffled as to what to do next? Any ideas?

Many thanks

Trev

Re: Vista Only Loading in Safe-Mode

Hello telby,

At this point while you are able to access safe mode you should take the time to make any backups that you need.

From safe mode try the following.

Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

type chkdsk /r

It should schedule a chkdsk after restarting out of safe mode. If not you you can use the Vista recovery media to try a repair or your system may have a recovery partition.
